Description

The Transit Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient transit services to the community in the City of Moose Jaw. Some of the duties include:  

- Plan, co-ordinate, direct and supervise
- Staffing function including recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation and corrective discipline
- Recommend changes and assist in developing programs and policies
- Assist in preparation of cost and budget estimates, exercise cost control of budgets and programs, and ensure compliance
- Ensure that incidents and complaints from the public are investigated and rectified
- Ensure electronic timecards, work orders, reports, and records on staff and activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintain operation in accordance with Collective Agreements and various contracts
- Evaluations and recommendations on personnel, equipment and procedures
- Direct the safekeeping, counting and deposit of fares and revenues
- Effectively communicate with other City Departments and provide administrative support to various Committees of Council
- Available for call out to respond to Transit related emergencies, as required

Qualified applicants will possess:

- Related minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma or degree
- 2 years experience in a transportation environment, with preference given to experience directly relating to municipal transit and/or public works
- 2 years experience in a managerial/supervisory role or leadership position
- Good knowledge of accounting methods and procedures, and principles of supervision, organization and administration in a unionized environment
- Class 5 drivers license, personal vehicle for work use, current drivers abstract and insurable under Citys insurance policy
- Ability to coach, lead, organize and direct activities of employees
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skill
