Energetic? Passionate about empowering young people? Enjoy debate and public speaking? Then we are looking for you! SEDA is looking for energetic people to lead speech and debate workshops for young people grades 5 10 at our Saskatoon summer camp. You will be responsible for providing a fun and educational experience for all participants.
About SEDA:
The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Associations vision is a world where youth have the confidence and skills to engage in reasoned discourse on complex and difficult issues. Our mission is to advance the speech arts among Saskatchewan youth by providing elocution and debate programs and resources. SEDA hosts competitive tournaments, helps start speech and debate clubs, provides resources to teachers and coaches, and teaches debate and speech skills to students in grades 5-12.
Responsibilities and Duties
Report directly to Camp Director.
Attend all orientation and training sessions
Prepare for teaching classes with your co-instructor/s using SEDA lesson plans and the camp curriculum
Teach public speaking and debate skills at camp
Provide an enjoyable and educational experience for all participants
Participate in feedback and reporting processes
The Camp Instructor will work from our Saskatoon office (310 Wall Street) and the camp venue (University of Saskatchewan)
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum grade 11 education
Team player with leadership skills/experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Reliable and organized
Access to a computer/laptop/tablet with reliable internet (some meetings may be virtual)
Speech or debate experience an asset
Experience working with young people grades 5 -11 is considered an asset
Successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check
