Description

Position Mandate:The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for the overall management of the day to day Programs and Services of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.  As a member of the Management Team, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will support and assist the Department Managers of the MLCN to ensure the efficient and comprehensive program delivery for our members.

The Chief Operations Officer is a highly motivated and career-minded individual. The COO is a results-oriented leader with a passion for improving the quality of life for the MLCN band members through the efficient administration of programs and services.  The COO functions as a hands-on, operational, and administrative leader with high ethical standards, personal accountability, expertise, and passion.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will demonstrate knowledge and/or competencies in:
First Nations culture, language, and governance structure and function
Strong knowledge of funding agencies and associated requirements
Understanding of financial reports including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs, policies and procedures
Work-plan and budget alignment
Policy, protocol, and operational practice development
Financial and budgeting processes and asset management
Human Resources Management
Change management
Proposal writing and reporting
Multi-tasking and time management
Confidentiality and discretion
Communications (oral, written, and digital forums)
Proficient in the use of digital tools
Familiar with funding agencies and reporting requirement
