ENTRY LEVEL SAFETY SPECIALIST

LOCATION:  SASKATOON, SK
JAY'S TRANSPORTATION GROUP LTD. is one of the largest freight transportation companies in Saskatchewan. As a subsidiary of The Mullen Group, we provide direct freight service to over 550 locations in the province.

Responsibilities:
This is an entry level safety position that works with the Safety Team
    Assist in development and implementation of new hire orientation processes and procedures.
    Ensure the policies, rules and safe work procedures of Jays are being adhered to.
    Assist with development of safe work procedures, practices and Task Hazard Assessments.
    Assist with investigations related to non-driver related warehouse incident reports
    Be present on dock to identify unsafe work process and assist floor supervisors with hazard ID.
    Ensure employee safety training standards are maintained and certification is being completed
    Branch inspections

Education:
    Willing to work toward or has completed courses within the Certified Transportation Safety Admin Program.
    First Aid

Qualifications:
    Must have high quality interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
    Knowledge of Labour Canada OHS Legislation & Regulations an asset
    Sound judgement and investigative skills
    Willing to learn more about Safety and the desire for lifelong learning
    Must have the willingness to lead by example to promote safety in the workplace
    Transportation experience not mandatory, warehousing and commercial /industrial experience would be an asset
    Proficient computer skills
