Position Summary:
Prairie Roots Early Centre is a brand new, licensed childcare facility that will be opening summer-fall of 2024. PRELC will have a capacity of 40 children ranging in age from 18 months to 6 years.

We are looking to hire a Centre Cook, a qualified individual who will be an enthusiastic member of our team. The successful application will be responsible for menu planning, food purchasing, food preparation, assisting with meal service for 2-3 meals per day, and housekeeping of the kitchen and eating area. Nutritious meals and snacks are to be prepared in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and the Childcare Regulations, 2015. The successful applicant may also have some responsibilities in providing supervision and care to cover staff during breaks, programming time, absences and to ensure staff-child ratios are met when needed.
    
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Ensuring nutritious meals and snacks are prepared and served according to schedule.
-Providing meals that are prepared in accordance to the Canadian Food Guide and the Childcare Regulations, 2015 to meet licensing standards & requirements.
-Purchasing groceries for the facility while adhering to a predetermined budget.
-Tracking inventory and creating a list for supplies to be purchased.
-Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen facilities to meet health and safety standards.
-Providing supervision of the children when necessary to maintain staff-child ratios
-Communicating with staff

Required Education/Certification:
-Safe Food Handling Course required upon start date
-First Aid Certification, CPR Level C
-Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector Check
-Understanding the Canadian Food Guide and understanding relevant sections within The Child Care Regulations, 2015
-ECE level 1, 2 or 3 is an asset
