Job Description: The Facility In-Charge Nurse (FIN) is designated in charge of the facility. The FIN oversees the operation of the facility and will provide appropriate direction and supervision to staff as required. He/She will mobilize staff from one nursing unit to another as deemed appropriate to facilitate coverage of the workload. He/She will provide assistance in the form of direct or indirect nursing care, procure supplies, equipment or support services as required and requested by Unit-In-Charge Nurse, and call in or direct Central Scheduling to call in replacement staff or workload relief staff as necessary.

The FIN is accountable for coordinating, guiding and evaluating all facets of the operation of the hospital on the evening and night shifts, and 24 hours/day on weekends.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to adapt to changing conditions
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Advanced assessment skills
Advanced interpersonal skills
Advanced organizational skills

Required Qualifications Continued: Three to five years experience in the area of psychiatric and/or general nursing practice.   The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member.
