Saskatoon Animal Control Agency (SACA) has been actively involved in our community since 2004, providing services to the City of Saskatoon. In this role we work to mediate conflict between neighbors, rescue strays, return lost pets, educate irresponsible owners and attend to concerns regarding aggressive animals. In January of 2024 our role expanded to provide daily care for those animals found as strays and held at the City Pound Facility. We are currently seeking applications for staff to help assist us in the goal of providing care, comfort and medical treatment for the animals in our care. The ideal candidate will possess:
-The technical skills needed to work independently and efficiently.
-An ability to recognize the unique environment and challenges that the shelter present.
-Excellent communication skills and an ability to both lead and follow; with an ability to assess the situation and determine which is beneficial based on circumstance.
-A means of commuting to our location just outside City limits.
-A clean criminal record check.
The successful candidate will work alongside our Veterinarian and Animal Care Team. They will be responsible for:
-Evaluation of animals at the time of intake. Generating Vet referrals as needed.
-Communication with adoptive families and foster homes regarding treatments and care.
-Completion of treatments at the directive of our vet.
-Performance of inhouse diagnostics
-Assisting with euthanasia of animals under the directive of our Veterinarian.
-Maintenance of records specific to animal treatments and care.
-Coordination of surgical appointments and related preparation.
-Facilitation, instruction and communication with our animal care team regarding the general care of the animals within our shelter.
-Other duties as required.
