Description

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has a career opportunity for a self-confident, positive role model to work in Prince Albert at the Prince Albert Youth Residence in a permanent part-time Nurse position. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.

We are seeking a compassionate, respectful and empathetic individual, eager to contribute in a positive way to the challenges of working in a Correctional Facility - a professional who will commit to teamwork and collaboration through their effective communication and interpersonal skills. Our candidate of choice will work with a team of health care professionals, to provide direct male youth patient nursing care and treatment. You will maintain accurate patient records, actively promote preventative health measures, respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies with appropriate interventions and assess medical and mental conditions, making referrals as needed.

To be considered for this position you will be actively registered (eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPN), or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (RN). You must have knowledge of medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies; drug/alcohol withdrawal indicators and effects; communicable diseases in a correctional population; public health issues and risk factors, and knowledge of multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives. The successful candidate will work a variety of shifts, which include evenings and weekends as required.
