Description

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to join our team as a Peer Support Worker. As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide invaluable support and guidance to youth 12-25 years old. Drawing from your own lived experience, you will offer encouragement, understanding, and practical assistance to empower individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness.

Responsibilities include:
1. Peer Support- Provide one-on-one peer support sessions to individuals in need, offering empathy, understanding, and practical coping strategies. Utilize your own lived experience to connect with individuals and foster a sense of hope and resilience.

2. Group Facilitation: Lead or co-facilitate support groups and educational workshops, creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build a supportive community.

3. Advocacy and Resource Referral: Advocate for individuals within the healthcare system, social services, and other relevant agencies to ensure they receive the support and resources they need. Provide information and referrals to community resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, employment opportunities, and peer-led support groups.

4. Crisis Intervention: Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed, utilizing your training and experience to provide reassurance and guidance during challenging situations.

5.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of peer support interactions, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
