Overview:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice works under the supervision of experienced mechanics to learn and perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostic tasks on heavy-duty machinery and equipment. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Maintenance and Repair:
Support experienced mechanics in performing scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.
Help with tasks such as oil changes, brake adjustments, and engine tune-ups.
Diagnostic Support:
Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
Learn to identify and troubleshoot common problems.
Component Replacement:
Aid in removing, repairing, and replacing worn or defective parts such as bearings, brakes, and seals.
Assist in reassembling and testing machinery to ensure proper functionality.
Tool and Equipment Handling:
Learn to use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Ensure tools and equipment are clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Comply with company policies and industry regulations regarding the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty equipment.
Documentation:
Assist in maintaining accurate records of work performed, parts used, and hours logged.
