Gain valuable work experience and references working with the City of Saskatoon Leisure programs!

General Information:

The City of Saskatoon is seeking contract learn to skate instructors for our introductory skating programs at Cosmo, Lions and ACT Arenas. Our ice skating programs are designed for children ages 3 to 9. The program provides basic skating instruction in a fun and safe learning environment. Instructor shifts will be available Monday-Thursday October 21st - December 12th.
Lesson times are 4:00pm - 4:45pm for children classes, 4:15pm - 4:45pm for preschool classes.

Qualifications:

Must be 16 years of age or older
Experience working with children ages 3 to 9
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the basic fundamental skills of skating are needed to participate in the activity of skating
The ability to lead a group of children in a structured activity.
Past involvement and participation in ice skating sports is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

Punctual and reliable
Energetic and enthusiastic
CPR and Standard First Aid not required but is an asset.

Instructor Duties and Expectations:

Instructors must have the ability to arrive 10 minutes prior to the class starting to set up and 10 minutes after the class to clean up.
Consistent attendance for the entirety of the 8-week classes. Communicate with the recreation technician about any attendance concerns.
Travel to various rinks throughout the city, arrive on time and set up for the lesson.
Instruct a group of children based on criteria provided.
Prepare lesson plans for classes that reflect the level of the participants.
Provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson set to the participant and parents.

Only select candidates will be called for an interview.
