The opportunity
- Complete laytime calculations by extracting data from contracts, Charter Parties, Statement of Facts, and other relevant documents.
- Utilize software to calculate laytime, compare and interpret the results to show salient points and/or divergences.
- Issue Final Freight Invoices to Vessel Owners and handle the intercompany reconciliations and reports for laytime costs.
- Maintain detailed records of all stages of negotiation to settlement and keep records of any events impacting vessel loading activities.
- Interpret the impact of change in the various elements during loading/discharging operation on the resulting demurrage/dispatch.
- Provide technical expertise on contractual clauses in relation to laytime and demurrage and for better management of potential commercial risk.
You have
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, Mathematics, Vessel Operations, Logistics or a related field.
- Minimum one to two years experience in a related field.
- Previous experience in the shipping industry or an international trade environment with previous Laytime calculation experience would be considered an asset.
You bring
- Excellent communication and negation skills.
- Effective time management, attention to detail and ability to analyze data efficiently and accurately.
- Knowledge of the shipping industry or an international trade environment with previous Laytime calculation experience would be an asset.
- Understanding of the Charter Party and strong contract interpretation skills would be an asset.
- Experience in Ocean Transportation-related software and processes, knowledge of terminology and documentation relevant for completing calculations and negotiation would be an asset.
- Ability to work non-traditional business hours.
