The Government of Saskatchewan's Ministry of Government Relations is seeking an energetic, confident individual with strong relationship-building skills, collaboration, communication, analytical, policy and program development, implementation and evaluation skills to join the Aboriginal Consultation Unit team within the Lands and Consultation Branch.
In the role of Senior Consultation Advisor, you will play a crucial role in helping to fulfill governments Duty to Consult and implementing Saskatchewans First Nation and Metis Consultation Policy Framework. To accomplish this, you will build relationships and work collaboratively with provincial ministries, Crowns and agencies, First Nation and Metis communities, industry, consultants and other organizations. You will also be responsible to:
- Develop and provide advice on engagement plans;
- Provide day-to-day policy advice and implementation support to officials across government and senior management and support to the administration of the First Nation and Mtis Consultation Participation Fund;
- Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate policies and strategies to consult with First Nation and Metis communities;
- Develop relationships with First Nation and Metis communities, industry, and other organizations to facilitate participation in planning and policy development across government ministries and agencies;
- Deliver all internal training and external outreach related to governments duty to consult, which may involve travel to rural and remote Aboriginal communities.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained by the completion of a degree or diploma in public policy, social sciences, resource management, or a related field, combined with several years of experience working with Indigenous communities and industry in the lands and resource sectors.
