The Member Services division of the Legislative Assembly Service is seeking an experienced Director to lead the administration of Member expense payments, assets, and payroll and benefit services. The Director ensures that the expenditure of public funds complies with the directives and regulations of the Board of Internal Economy (BOIE) and applicable government policies; and is responsible for implementing policies, procedures and directives related to Member payments, assets and payroll and benefits administration to ensure that the expenditure of public funds is in accordance with directives and regulations of the BOIE and governmental policies and regulations.
This role carries full managerial responsibility for two units - Member Services and Payroll and Benefits - overseeing 9 FTEs.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strategic focus, analytical capabilities, and leadership skills, fostering innovative approaches to service delivery and maintaining a strong client focus. A thorough knowledge of strategic policies, budgetary and accounting practices, and experience in implementing and administering financial policies in the public sector is crucial.
The position requires accounting knowledge including practices and principles; methodologies of financial management; and Canadian public sector auditing and accounting standards. This knowledge is typically obtained through a university degree in Administration or Commerce with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation being an asset.
