Prairie Swine Centre Inc. is a non-profit swine production research corporation affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan and located 10 km southeast of Saskatoon. We offer a nationally and internationally recognized program in research, knowledge transfer, and education all directed at the efficiency and sustainability of pork production. The Centre operates a 300 sow farrow-to-finish research herd and currently employs approximately 30 full and part-time staff and students.
We are seeking an individual who enjoys working with and caring for animals. The primary responsibilities include providing day-to-day animal care in breeding, gestation, farrowing and nursery, as well as grow-finish. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and will work independently with direct support from the supervisor, and as a member of a team. Some physical labour is involved; comfort in working with large animals is essential.
A grade 12 diploma is required. Preference will be given to those who possess a diploma in Animal Science, Animal Health Technology or related discipline. Relevant training or experience would be an asset, but training is available for individuals seeking entry into this field for the first time. Preference will also be given to those who have a background in pork production.
Prairie Swine Centre offers a competitive compensation package including benefits and a pension plan.
