Supported Living Program Support Worker.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist adults experiencing disability to help them achieve their unique independent living skills, goals, and needs.
- Teach daily living skills ie: housework, bus training, menu planning, cooking, budgeting, interpersonal skills
- Assistance in dealing with community professionals ie: doctors, landlords, utility contact personnel
- Assistance in finding housing ie: phone calls, viewing, landlords, hook-ups, guidance re: choices/availability
- Finding meaningful activity and/or volunteer opportunities in the community
- Assist clients to manage socially appropriate behaviours
- Assist participants with personal care
- Provide transportation as required
- Documentation and reporting regularly to the Behaviour Supports Senior Supervisor
Qualifications:
Education:
- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and access to a working/reliable vehicle
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
- Additional courses such as TLR and PART would be considered an asset
Experience:
- One year experience in a related field
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and databases including file recordings
- Ability to be flexible and work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, management, and community partners
- Open minded and creative, with effective time management and problem-solving skills
Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
