Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Intake Counsellor will work 5 days per week (Mon-Fri) providing comprehensive clinical intake services and system navigation support to FSR, FSEAP and Help Line clients. This position is responsible to provide brief therapy intervention, and in the moment support, for callers transferred to the Help Line. As the first point of contact this position builds rapport with clients, provides telephone counselling, stabilizes crisis situations and conducts intake assessments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
-Handle client requests for services.
-Conduct telephonic clinical intake assessments, including clinical risk evaluations, to ensure that clients are referred to the appropriate resource.
-Provide crisis stabilization and immediate telephone counselling -
-Deliver single session, brief therapy services to clients contacting the help lines.
-Schedule clients for face-to-face appointments with counsellors, or refer them to clinical affiliates and/or appropriate community resources.
-Educate clients about services, eligibility requirements, and referral processes.
-Manage the enrollment and intake assessment documentation within database
-Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance initiatives
-Manage details effectively including ability to input data into data bases, proficiency with Excel and Word.
-Collaborative service planning

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
-Significant understanding of mental health and substance abuse
-Ability to assess high risk situations and engage in risk assessment, safety planning and referral as necessary.
-Superior knowledge of community resources
-Demonstrated ability to create and manage professional clinical records
-Proficiency in communication and team-building
-Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a professional team
-Ability to maintain community relationships

Must have BSW and SASW Registration
