The Indigenous Economic Development Branch has an opportunity in Saskatoon for an Indigenous Economic Development Officer.
Reporting to the Director, the position is responsible to:
- Work with Indigenous community and business leadership and stakeholders to identify priorities, opportunities, existing resources and barriers to economic development;
- Liaise between the communities and government ministries, agencies, municipalities and the private sector to link communities with resources, and training opportunities;
- Analyze data, trends, issues, and economic priorities of Indigenous communities and corporations in
- Saskatchewan to prepare high-quality briefing material, presentations, and reports;
- Represent Trade and Export Development in inter-ministry and inter-governmental committees and in discussions with various Indigenous stakeholders to advance social development strategies, initiatives, and opportunities in Indigenous communities.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required to achieve the above is obtained through:
- A university degree in administration or public policy, business/commerce, social development, project management, or community planning;
- Experience in project and process management, community outreach, communication, and building collaboration and strategic orientation through strong relationships with partners;
- Experience in facilitation, consultation, and interest-based problem-solving; and
- Experience working with First Nations, Metis, and/or northern communities.
- A valid Saskatchewan drivers license is required as the position will travel regularly to communities across Saskatchewan.
