The primary role of the Warming Center Coordinator is to help ensure the health, safety, and quality care for all Guests, to appropriately handle emergencies and crises, or to the staff as support to help ensure the adherence to rules, regulations, program policy, procedures, and expectations. Direct staff and assist with scheduling, ensuring that time cards are completed.
DUTIES:
Ensure the safety of yourself, the Guests, and the Warming Center. Ensures the rights of all Guests are respected and protected.
Monitor Guests, conduct and address any non-compliance issues as they occur, make note of incidences in appropriate reports.
Connect with Guests. Provide supportive services as necessary to Guests, including active listening, supporting someone who is struggling, engaging positively, acting as a role model.
Assists in crisis resolution/intervention. Demonstrates open and honest problem and conflict resolution skills.
Conduct Warming Center walk through (frequently during a shift) paying attention to the Centers safety, cleanliness, program compliance, and noting the location of each individual.
Manages operational needs of the Warming Center i.e. supplies, chores, maintenance, etc. Report maintenance/safety needs and concerns to Director
Engage Guests and work with them in upkeep and cleaning of Center, monitoring and modeling appropriate cleaning techniques when possible.
Note areas that need to be cleaned & organized throughout the Center and assist/delegate Guests to attend to them when possible.
Presents and performs in a professional manner at all times with Guests, staff, volunteers, and the public.
All other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge of substance abuse issues, mental health issues, and co-occurring disorders
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred minimum 2 years of experience working with homeless individuals or education in social services/teaching or behavioral
