The Director of Care plays a pivotal role in overseeing the quality of care provided to residents in a Long Term Care Home. This leadership position requires a compassionate and experienced professional who is dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors, particularly those with dementia and other age-related challenges. The Director of Care will be responsible for ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, managing staff, and fostering a supportive environment for both residents and team members.
Duties:
Oversee daily operations of the care department, ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
Supervise nursing staff and caregivers, providing guidance and support to enhance team performance.
Administer medications as required, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs, focusing on senior care best practices.
Conduct regular assessments of resident health and well-being, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care.
Provide training and ongoing education for staff on topics such as dementia care and medication administration.
Requirements
Proven experience in a leadership role within a Long Term Care Home environment.
Strong background in medication administration and nursing practices.
Experience in senior care, particularly with dementia patients is highly desirable.
Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and staff.
A valid nursing license; relevant certifications in senior care will be considered an asset.
