Description

The RM of Hoodoo No. 401, Town of Cudworth, and Town of Wakaw invite applications from qualified persons for the position of Fire Chief to provide strong leadership to the Cudworth/Hoodoo & Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire Departments. These fire departments service their respective municipalities along with municipalities that the RM has entered into fire agreements with to provide fire protection to, those being RM of Fish Creek, Resort Village of Wakaw Lake, and Wakaw Lake Regional Campground.

The Fire Chief will be responsible for the organization and management of all related duties associated with the Cudworth/Hoodoo & Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire Departments, focusing on leadership, training, recruitment, fire prevention programs, and administration.

This is a permanent 60% FTE management position (24 hours/week). Active fire duty (fire call) hours will be compensated for in addition to management duties.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Direction of both fire department operations & functions including planning, administration, recruitment, and supervision of all functions & procedures
-Direction of fire activities during emergencies for the protection of life & property
-Assumption of command during emergencies & co-operation with other Fire Chiefs, Emergency Measures Officials, Provincial Fire Commissioner's Office representatives and other officials
-Preparation & submission to each respective municipality the department's annual financial budget, and, when approved, administering and controlling the budget expenditures
-Through the joint fire committee, reporting to Council on the various activities of each fire department
-Preparation, maintaining, and updating the Emergency Plan and representing the municipal authorities in continuing contact with the Emergency Measures Organization
-Any other duties as assigned by Councils
