Description

The Screed Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the screed on the asphalt paver. This role involves controlling the quantity and consistency of asphalt laid on the road surface, ensuring a smooth and even finish. This role requires precision and attention to detail to ensure the quality and durability of the finished pavement. The position involves performing daily pre-use and post-use inspections, adhering to safety protocols, and keeping the equipment clean and in good working order.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    Operate Screed: Control the screed to regulate the width and depth of asphalt being laid.
    Monitor Asphalt Flow: Ensure consistent flow and distribution of asphalt material.
    Quality Control: Inspect the finished surface for uniformity and smoothness, making adjustments as necessary.
    Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily routine maintenance on the screed and related equipment.
    Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    Communication: Coordinate with the paving crew and other operators to ensure efficient workflow.
    Training: Assist in training new crew members on screed operation and safety procedures.
    Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues with the screed or asphalt mix to prevent delays.
    Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the paving crew to achieve project goals and deadlines.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
    Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a screed on an asphalt paver.
    Certifications: Formal training in Asphalt Paving, G and/or A endorsement and valid class 5 license or higher considered an as
