Description

The Asphalt Roller Operator is a critical member of the paving crew, responsible for operating the asphalt roller to compact asphalt surfaces to the required specifications. This role requires precision and attention to detail to ensure the quality and durability of the finished pavement. The operator must be able to work in various weather conditions and coordinate effectively with other crew members to achieve optimal results. The position involves performing daily pre-use and post-use inspections, adhering to safety protocols, keeping the equipment clean and in good working order . The Asphalt Roller Operator plays a vital role in the successful completion of paving projects, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the construction team.
Key Responsibilities:
    Operate asphalt roller to compact asphalt to specified density.
    Monitor the temperature and condition of the asphalt during rolling.
    Perform daily safety checks on equipment.
    Communicate with the paving crew to ensure proper compaction and smoothness.
    Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
    Assist with other duties as required by the supervisor.
    Operate the roller in successive overlapping passes to achieve desired compaction and smoothness.
    Determine the speed and direction of the roller based on the compressibility of the material under changing temperatures as directed by the supervisor.
    Perform minor adjustments to the roller as needed.
    Ensure equipment and the job site is clean and free of excess materials.
