Description

The Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nations is seeking a dependable and community-minded Transfer Station Operator to oversee the daily operations of our First Nations waste station. This role will ensure our waste management processes run smoothly, safely, and in line with our community's values and policies.

Responsibilities:
    Start up and secure the waste station each day, ensuring all equipment is in working order.
    Perform end-of-day checks to make sure everything is safely shut down and locked up.
    Keep the entire area tidy and safe, including waste disposal zones and common areas.
    Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any cleanliness or safety issues.
    Direct community members as they enter the facility, guiding them to the appropriate waste stations.
    Ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and pedestrians to prevent congestion and accidents.
    Help members understand where to dispose of different types of waste.
    Offer information on recycling practices and hazardous material disposal when needed.
    Monitor activities to ensure all waste disposal aligns with band policies and environmental regulations.
    Address any non-compliance issues politely but firmly, educating members on correct procedures.
    Write clear and detailed incident and safety reports when necessary.
    Report any accidents, injuries, or policy violations promptly to the appropriate authorities.
    Operate and monitor the facility's surveillance system to enhance security and prevent illegal dumping.
    Review footage when incidents occur and assist in investigations as needed.
    Understanding and knowledge of all applicable policies and processes

Qualifications:
    Self-starter  minimal supervision
    Punctual, motivated to go above and beyond expectations
    Positive attitude, ability to take direction
    Willingness to strictly adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
    Ability to follow checklists and provide feedback on improvement needed
