The Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills to join their regional services team. As a Livestock and Feed Extension Specialist, you will work with farmers and ranchers, producer groups and industry to help them grow and improve the efficiency of their livestock operations and the livestock industry in Saskatchewan.
You will develop and deliver extension programs and provide producers and industry with expert advice on a wide range of livestock production issues. You will work on applied research and demonstration projects to increase the adoption of new agricultural technologies and practices relevant to the livestock sector.
The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of livestock management, production, and marketing issues relevant to the livestock sector in Saskatchewan. You will have the ability to plan, organize, develop and facilitate meetings, seminars, conferences and demonstrations and effectively interpret and communicate information related to livestock management to a variety of audiences.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through completion of a Masters of Animal Science in Agriculture or a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in animal science combined with extensive experience in livestock production, extension and agri-business. You must be eligible for membership as a professional agrologist with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.
