Summer Student Job Summer Student Job

Description

The Learn to Ride Safe (LTRS) bicycle program is funded by the city of Saskatoon and operated in Saskatoon by On Purpose. The program teaches bicycle safety and etiquette to Grade three in Saskatoon schools.
We are hiring 4 people to be trained as instructors who will deliver this prepared program in schools at preregistered classrooms on school days in May and June. Instructors will receive training and certification as CAN-BIKE Skills II cyclists and Kids CAN-BIKE for instructors through Cycling Canada.
This program is a fun, fast paced, unique opportunity to get experience instructing students in both a classroom and outdoor setting. By sharing the LTRS program, you are helping kids develop lifelong safe cycling habits. Instructors will present the theory portion in the school classroom and the outdoor portion with the students in the school yard. Resources such as access PowerPoint instruction presentation, videos and other resources are provided by On Purpose.
Requirements:
- Be 19 years of age as of April 30, 2025.
- Available for training and certification on Thursday, May 1, Friday, May 2 and Saturday May 3.
- Available to teach during school hours (8:30 AM  3:30 PM) in Saskatoon elementary schools between May 5 to June 25 (weekdays only).
- Successfully complete the CAN-BIKE Skills II and Kids CAN-BIKE Instructor certification courses (training provided).
- Have a safe bicycle and helmet.
- Willing to accept additional responsibilities for tasks during weather issues or other related days when schools are not open.
- First aid certification is an asset.
Experience with instructing children is preferred but not required. Candidates may be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check if successful.
