Description

The Provincial Capital Commission is currently seeking a seasonal Horticulturist 2 to assist in the care and Maintenance of the flower beds, and plants in Wascana Center and Government House. This is a manual labour position working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will be working independently and as part of a team.

In this role, you will provide routine plant maintenance at Wascana Place and Government House, including preparing, potting, and maintaining both interior and exterior plant material.Minor tool maintenance is also part of the job. You'll establish and maintain effective working relationships, interact courteously with the public, understand and convey verbal and written instructions, and lead small work crews. A willingness to work weekends and perform other duties as assigned is essential.

You will:

- Have the ability to prepare, plant and maintain exterior flower beds, and water, pot and weed plants in the greenhouse.
- Perform outside physical labour in all weather conditions and work in a safe manner.
- Have the ability to operate required tools and equipment competently and safely.
- Have knowledge of minor tool Maintenance.
- Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Have the ability to greet and interact with park visitors in a polite and courteous manner while providing information.
- Have the ability to understand and convey verbal and written instructions.
- Have the ability to lead small work crews.
- Have the willingness to work weekends.

Typically have a certificate in Horticulture or related field from a recognized college.
Have approximately 18 months experience in a relevant field. Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
