Description

Are you passionate about doing meaningful work? Do you care about water as one of our most important resources? The Water Security Agency is seeking a temporary GIS Analyst to join the Informatics team.

Reporting to the designated Supervisor, an employee in this job will provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other related geomatics expertise and support corporate wide. This employee will assist in the development of WSA expertise in geospatial technologies and in the development and implementation of GIS and other geomatics applications within the WSA.

Duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a data repository for use by the WSA and its partners in accordance with established policies and procedures involving conducting quality control processes; assist in converting and loading data onto file servers and/or geo-databases; assist in creating or facilitating the development of meta-data; assist in monitoring maintenance agreements to ensure data currency; and assist in implementing data security requirements for user access and data back-up.
- Provide geomatics related expertise and support services including spatial analysis, map production, modeling, geo-processing, application development and image processing.
- Work within a team environment comprising geomatics technologists and professionals, participate in developing custom applications by assessing client needs, researching development options, developing prototypes (including coding) and documenting both development and user applications.
- Provide geomatics technical support to users throughout the WSA; and undertake other assignments as required.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Planning, Computer Science, Water Resources Engineering or similar discipline with an emphasis in GIS and other geomatics applications.
