Position Summary:
The successful incumbent in this role will join a small team providing payroll, financial services, analysis and support to our 4 locations in the Prairies. The Accountant / Payroll Administrator will be responsible for providing day-to-day support on issues such as attendance/time management, payroll processing, preparing and maintaining various forms of financial reports and ledger reconciliations with a high attention to detail.
Position Functions:
Financial Accounting

+ Perform various day-to-day accounting transactions and journal entries
+ Reconcile various general ledger accounts
+ Participate in various monthly accounting cycle activities and reporting
+ Variance and margin analysis
+ Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
+ Create and maintain well-organized spreadsheets to accurately track various data
+ Submit provincial and federal government reporting and tax filing
+ Provide accounts payable support and process online payments when required
+ Participate in the preparation of forecasts and budgets
+ Assist with the compilation of year-end audit reports
+ Support and participate in cross-training to provide coverage for other positions within the finance team as needed
+ Willingness to learn new skills and provide input to improve current processes to create efficiencies
Payroll Administration

+ Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all hourly and salary employees using Ceridian Dayforce. This currently includes a combination of weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
+ Review union contracts and ensure payroll compliance; update system with new contractual items as required
+ Ensure adherence to provincial and federal payroll laws, including tax, EI, and CPP deductions
