The purpose of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is to enable a prosperous, market-driven agricultural industry through a supportive legislative framework, policies, programs, and services. Within the Ministry, the Livestock Branch provides leadership to administer programs and services that support the environmentally sustainable growth of the livestock industry.
The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, collaborative and innovative leader for a permanent position as the Director of the Emergency Response and Inspection Unit to lead efforts to support the growth strategy of the province and improve the agriculture sectors long-term resiliency.
What you will need:
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Canadian agriculture industry and issues related to regulatory frameworks, food safety and emergency preparedness and response;
- A proven track record of aligning the organizational values and strategic leadership to achieve organizational goals and outcomes;
- Proven experience as a leader holding a team of professionals accountable for their results and contributions to a high-performing organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate strategically with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders; and
- A proven capability to identify, develop, and deliver key strategic insights, counsel, and policy with a high degree of innovation and accountability.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through an advanced degree in agriculture, veterinary medicine or an equivalent combination of education and experience with several years of experience in leadership roles.
