Description

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture's Regional Services Branch has a challenging opportunity in our Moose Jaw and Humboldt offices to be a leader in the delivery of extension services and agricultural programming as an Agri-Environmental Specialist. As part of a team, the Agri-Environmental Specialist will support sustainability through the extension of information on adoption of best management practices and delivery of Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) programming.

As an Agri-Environmental Specialist, you will develop and deliver extension events and provide in-depth knowledge to farmers, ranchers, agri-business, industry stakeholders, and Indigenous communities on best management practices to address agri-environmental issues and the availability of programming.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

- a leader in the delivery of client services focused on environmental programming, adoption of best management practices, building public trust, and technology transfer;
- organized and able to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines;
- able to work independently but also as part of a highly dynamic team of specialists; and
- able to plan, coordinate and facilitate meetings, events, field days and demonstrations to share information with clients to create a greater understanding of issues currently impacting the industry.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture combined with relevant leadership, program delivery and client service experience. Candidates must have the ability to be registered with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists as defined by The Agrologists Act. A valid class 5 drivers license is required.
