Position Overview
Perform hands-on composite manufacturing, including vacuum infusion, wet lay-up, LRTM, and mold making.
Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
Work closely with engineers to translate design intent into manufacturable processes.
Create and maintain documentation, including work instructions, quality documents, bills of materials, test records, and process specifications.
Design and develop jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing operations.
Conduct CAD work and generate technical drawings for tooling and customer deliverables.
Assist in setting up work cells and optimizing shop layouts for improved workflow.
Support maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment.
Perform manufacturing engineering tasks, including analyzing workflows, improving work cell layouts, and optimizing production processes.
Train fabricators and production staff on newly developed manufacturing procedures.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, reduce defects, and minimize costs.
Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.
Quality Control:
Perform quality checks using visual inspection and various measurement tools.
Document quality control findings and maintain records for process improvement and compliance.
Conduct component inspections using laser trackers and other precision measurement equipment.
Additional Areas:
Communicate project status with team members and stakeholders.
Support projects and programs beyond composite processes as necessary.
Maintain operational documentation for equipment and production processes.
Collaborate with external groups as required to support manufacturing improvements and project success.
