Description

MGBHLM Economic Development Corporation Ltd. is seeking an experienced, visionary General Manager to lead the organization through its next phase of growth. Operating in sectors such as retail, construction, real estate, and security, MGBHLM is committed to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional value to its stakeholders.
Reporting to the Chief and Council, the GM is responsible for all operational, strategic, and financial aspects of the organization. This high-trust leadership role demands professionalism, integrity, and strong management skills. The GM will oversee daily operations, ensure policy compliance, prepare financial reports, secure funding, and manage funded projects.
Key Responsibilities:
    Lead strategic planning and business development aligned with long- and short-term goals.
    Oversee operations, staff performance, and internal policies.
    Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and act as the main liaison for Chief and Council.
    Manage budgets, financial reporting, audits, and proposal writing.
    Ensure legal and ethical compliance across the organization.
    Oversee contract, asset, and risk management, including hiring consultants as needed.
    Champion organizational growth and innovation in line with First Nation values and self-governance.
Qualifications:
    Masters Degree in Business or related field preferred.
    Minimum 5 years of proven management experience in finance, HR, and administration.
    Familiarity with corporate governance, Indigenous governance, and relevant legislation (e.g., Indian Act, Canada Labour Code).
    Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    Deep understanding of the unique cultural, political, and social context of First Nation communities.
    Clear criminal record required.
