Description

City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a Parks Person III  Forestry position which runs from April to October.  Some duties include:
-Assist in the implementation of maintenance programs specific to the Citys Urban Forest Management Plan initiatives including planting, pruning, and protection of public trees and associated vegetation
-Assist in maintaining systematic, complete, and accurate records and supporting documents of all activities related to the maintenance of the Citys urban forest and associated vegetation
-Drive/operate/inspect and ensure proper maintenance of various vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to bucket trucks, chipper, stump grinder, chain saw, motorized pole saw, tractor/loader, skid-steer, fertilizers and other associated equipment and hand tools
-Supervise the Forestry crew in the absence of Crew Lead - Forestry and the ability and knowledge to perform a variety of fully skilled and manual tasks independently, such as tree maintenance and tree removal, cabling, bracing, pruning using an aerial device, hedge pruning, tree planting, tending shrubs and flowers and turf care

Applicants will possess:
-Grade 12 education or equivalent
-Six months experience related to Forestry maintenance including tree pruning, tree removals, basic knowledge of tree identification, tree support systems like cabling, bracing etc
-Familiar with Microsoft-based computer systems
-Knowledge and understanding of the OH&S Act and Regulations
-Physically and mentally complete duties while exposed to environmental factors such as various elevations, excessive noise, extreme weather, etc.
-Unassisted heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
-Ability to operate equipment and vehicles in parks and green spaces especially in association with forestry
-Class 3A License
