Job Description: The USWA is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species in our watershed. The AIS Technician will support outreach, education, and monitoring efforts aimed at preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species. This role involves working outdoors at boat launches and water access points, engaging with the public, collecting data, performing Clean, Drain, and Dry Demonstrations and supporting the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environments AIS inspections and decontamination.
Travel Required: Travel is required to area lakes (Nickle Lake, Rafferty Reservoir, Boundary Dam, Grant Devine Reservoir, Whitebear and Kenosee)
Education
Interest in natural resources management, or a related field.
The hiring committee will consider relevant experience.
You must be prepared to attend MOE training in invasive species identification, Clean Drain Dry Demonstrations and environmental monitoring.
License
Valid driver's license and criminal background check are required. Due to the travel required, you will need a reliable vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Clean, Drain and Dry demonstrations at public boat launches.
Educate boaters, anglers, and the public on AIS prevention practices.
Collect and report inspection data.
Monitor and sample local water bodies for invasive species.
Assist with community outreach events, school visits, and awareness campaigns.
Operate and maintain AIS equipment.
Maintain daily activity logs and contribute to periodic reports.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills:
o Able to build rapport with anglers, boaters, and watercraft users of all ages.
o Confident in speaking to diverse groups about invasive species and prevention strategies.
