Reporting to the Mill Controller, the Junior Accountant is an integral part of the finance team.
Responsibilities:
Analysis of problematic accounts payable invoices on a timely basis
Work with procurement, stores and logistics departments to resolve variances
Determine correct invoice application of Provincial Sales Tax
Enter appropriate GL coding and obtain approval for Purchase Order exempt invoices
Scan approved invoice documents and forward to Head Office A/P team for entry
Review employee expense claims
Respond to vendor inquiries
Process miscellaneous incoming payments
Prepare month end accrual journal entries relating to A/P and logistics.
Logistic cost tracking, month end analysis and reconciliation of Prepaid/Payable Freight
Ensures the companys policies and procedures are adhered to
Assist in the analysis and reconciliation of the GR/IR (goods received, invoices received) account
Provide assistance with internal and external audits
Participate in the development of budgets and forecasts
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Related experience and/or post-secondary training in the field of accounting is required
A high level of accuracy & attention to detail with excellent organization skills
Self-motivated, strong work ethic and the ability to meet tight deadlines with multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Thorough knowledge of Excel
