The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing grain procurement, inbound and outbound shipping activities, and ensuring high levels of customer service. This role involves leading and coaching staff and supporting Management in budgeting and expense control while meeting financial targets.
Duties and responsibilities
Oversee grain receiving, grading, blending, and shipping operations to meet quality and safety standards.
Coordinate inbound and outbound grain flow based on customer and market demands.
Maximize railcar allocation and shipping efficiency.
Lead and develop staff to ensure high levels of customer service and operational performance.
Monitor grain quality, inventory, and financial data; take corrective action as needed.
Maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP standards.
Support budgeting, scheduling, and performance management in collaboration with upper management.
Foster strong customer and community relationships.
Knowledge and skills
Strong understanding of grain handling, grading, and processing standards.
Familiarity with Malting Barley selection and grain marketing programs.
Excellent leadership, team management, and coaching abilities.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficient in financial monitoring, reporting, and budget management.
