Description

Senior Director of Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI)
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week  flexibility to meet organizational needs

Under the direct supervision of the CEO and as a member of the senior leadership team the Senior Director of Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI) plays a key role in using lived experience, community relations and evidence-based research to plan, develop and execute the DEDI strategy.  The DEDI strategy will reflect the YWCA commitments to decolonization, anti-Black racism and gender and sexual diversity and will partner with external expertise to support all YWCA departments.  This includes acting as a subject matter expert and seeking the guidance and knowledge of community members, Elders and community organizations to coordinate any DEDI strategies related to policies, practices, organizational learnings, staff development or other program development.
In addition to stewarding the three YWCA frameworks, this role will work with other senior leaders on guiding the internal caucuses for employees. The Senior Director of DEDI will need to be a resource to our employees while navigating life and employment and will be included as an employee resource for any employee relations issues.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a person who identifies as a member of a historically, systemically and persistently marginalized group and is knowledgeable of Indigenous cultural practices and history, including the history of colonization, as well as having experience working at senior level with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations and /or leadership. The candidate will understand decolonization, anti-racism and gender diversity as a concept and as a practice and have a solid understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing.
