Description

A division of the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, the Moose Jaw Newcomer Welcome Centre is a first stop, walk in, multi-faceted, collaborative regional service centre that exists to welcome immigrant newcomers to the Moose Jaw region.

The Information/Settlement Advisor is the first point of contact for clients, community service providers, and community members responsible for the overall coordination of services and information to address client needs and inquiries and responsible for the organization and successful operation of the reception and information areas of the NWC.

Specific Duties
Assist clients in gaining required information
Validates accuracy and completeness of client and community service information
Organizes, updates/orders informational resources and materials from the region and beyond
Coordinates with Language Assessors/ Settlement Advisor to book client appointments.
Filing and photocopying and other general office duties
Administrative support to the Gateway Manager
Meeting clients one-on-one to provide assessments and referrals, as well as knowledge about Canada
Deliver workshops and orientations relevant to newcomer needs and gaps
Collaborate with other local organizations to support newcomer needs
Other duties in the best interest of the clients and agency

Required Skills/ Aptitudes

Post secondary degree in human/social sciences or equivalent education and experience.
Cultural awareness
Can work as a member of a team
Can work in an open work environment with many interruptions
Knowledge working in the South Central region of Saskatchewan
Can travel the region and work some flexible hours
Class 5 drivers license and reliable vehicle.
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Additional language skills an asset.
