The First Nation Representative Worker will work under direction of the Prevention Director/Manager and be based out of the Cegakin Prevention Office located on the Cegakin First Nation. The successful candidate will be required to understand and assist the Cegakin First Nations children in care and their Families who may have to go through the Court Process, this includes children who have been placed out of the province. The worker is responsible for ensuring that the mandate is carried out, in accordance with the various Provincial CFS Acts and in accordance with Cegakin First Nation customs, traditions and culture as pertains to its membership. As Cegkin First Nation is moving forward with exercise jurisdiction of their Child & Family Services under Bill C92.
You will be expected to maintain and build meaningful culture, family and community connections for Cegakin First Nation children, youth and families involved with child welfare system.
You must possess knowledge on child development and the impact of abuse, neglect, disability and other special needs and attachment issues as it relates to matters in Child Welfare Services.
You must possess the ability to understand family dynamics, refer and engage in appropriate resources, ability to support and work with families and/or the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where professional judgement and critical thinking is an asset, you will be required to travel and work flexible hours, also excellent oral and written communication skills. The Candidate will be required to advocate for the Provincial Ministry Regions, Delegated Agencies and/or community or internal committees to provide Family Group Conferencing Meetings, Judicial Dispute Resolutions, Circles etc as defined to meet the needs of the Cegakin First Nation children and families.
