The Wellness Coordinator works under the Director of Health Services to enhance the community's mental health and wellness. This role focuses on providing culturally sensitive outreach and education about mental health and addiction while empowering individuals with knowledge and resources.
Some Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and support peer workers in Wellness Prevention Programming.
Facilitate workshops and group discussions, contribute to program planning, and participate in community well-being initiatives.
Advocate for clients to access essential health services.
Plan and deliver suicide prevention and life-promoting initiatives for the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation, including referrals to wellness counselors.
Engage in meetings to network and align with broader health efforts.
Manage program development stages to meet community needs.
Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and maintaining accurate records related to funding and projects.
Foster relationships with local Aboriginal service providers and Indigenous communities to enhance program effectiveness.
Coordination is an essential aspect of the role, which involves managing logistical details, such as travel arrangements and accommodations, while ensuring that participants receive critical program information through multiple communication channels, including telephone, email, and fax.
The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for organizing engaging community activities and training sessions that promote wellness and skill development. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and occasional travel to meet community needs.
Measurable outcomes and goals for each program, such as workshop attendance and support group participation, will be established. The coordinator will lead self-help groups, implement treatment programs, and coordinate regular AA, NA, and GA meetings.
