Financial Controller
Northern Lights Community Development Corporation (NLCDC)

Under the direction of the General Manager and the Board of Directors, they are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to lead and manage all aspects of our financial operations. The Financial Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and compliance, and for providing financial guidance to the General Manager, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.

Duties:
Coordinate all financial planning, budgeting, and reporting activities
Implement and maintain a computerized accounting system to ensure accurate financial records
Serve as a financial advisor to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee
Develop and maintain organized filing systems for financial correspondence and records
Analyze financial variances, recommend budget revisions, and take corrective action as needed
Record monthly general journal entries and reconcile GL accounts and bank statements
Prepare quarterly financial statements with detailed analysis for board review
Prepare year-end working papers and draft financial statements for external audit
Calculate annual funding allotments for First Nations, non-First Nations, and other not-for-profit organizations
Review, summarize, and prioritize funding applications for quarterly recommendations to the screening committee.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
A combination of training, education and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the accounting field is required
Strong analytical, logical, and financial management abilities
Proficiency in accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheet applications
Well-developed computer skills and familiarity with financial systems
Experience working with First Nations organizations is considered a strong asset
