Description

To Start July 1, 2025 - July 30, 2026

Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD), Crisis and Respite Services supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. Your work will promote and support individuals to achieve the highest quality of life possible with full participation and presence in their community.

Brigham Home in Moose Jaw requires caring, compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic candidates for the role of Community Residential Worker. You will work directly with people, supporting them to live their lives to the fullest with a focus on creating positive, engaging experiences.

Providing direct support to individuals, focusing on their holistic well-being, guided by their unique needs and preferences is vital. A key component in this role is the implementation of individualized and least restrictive behavior support strategies.  You will apply de-escalation techniques maintaining a neutral demeanor, offering choices to give the individual a sense of self determination, and may use distraction to redirect their focus. It is also expected that you remain with the individual to prevent self-harm, encourage self-soothing activities, and offer reassurance about their safety.

Typically, the level of knowledge and skills for this position is obtained through 1-year post-secondary education in a related human service field such as Disability Support Worker, Psychology or Social Work and/or gained through related experience working in a therapeutic capacity with people with intellectual disabilities who may display complex and challenging behaviours.

*Please note, due to the nature of the position, employees will be exposed to the risk of violent (behavioural) situations in which PART training reinforces safety concerns and assists in precautionary measures.
