As a 988 Crisis Line Responder, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking immediate support during mental health crises. This role requires empathy, active listening skills, and the ability to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and resource referrals in a high-pressure environment. You will work in collaboration with a network of professionals to ensure safety and care for individuals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Crisis Intervention:
Respond to incoming calls and messages on the 988 crisis line with compassion and professionalism.
Provide immediate emotional support and assess the level of risk for individuals experiencing a crisis.
Utilize de-escalation techniques to stabilize callers and develop safety plans when necessary.
2.Resource Navigation:
Connect individuals with local and national resources for ongoing support, including mental health.
Maintain a strong understanding of available community resources to provide accurate referrals.
3.Documentation:
Accurately document all interactions in accordance with organizational policies and confidentiality regulations.
Education/Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
Prior experience in crisis intervention, mental health support, or suicide prevention is required.
