Description

The City of Melville is seeking motivated and energetic students for the Summer Student position in the Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in public service while working in a collaborative team environment. The position follows a compressed 4-day work week, allowing you to make the most of your summer. Assist with the maintenance and beautification of parks, trails, and green spaces, including mowing, weeding, and planting and watering.
    Must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program or returning to school in the fall.
    Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
    Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
    Basic knowledge of landscaping, maintenance, and/or public works operations is an asset but not required.
    Comfortable with physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
    Good communication and teamwork skills.
    A valid drivers license is required.
