Description

The Prevention Support Representative (PSR) is part of the health care team and is responsible for assessing the health promotion needs and well being of the Flying Dust First Nation children, you, and families by developing, coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and services. This position will apply a holistic approach to individual, family, and community healing and development. The primary function of the PSR is to ensure effective prevention services are implemented and provided to children and their families of FDFN, on and off reserve. This individual will be sensitive, compassionate, and professional in all areas relating to prevention needs, issues and concerns.
Duties of this include, but not limited to:
    Serve as a main contact between Flying Dust First Nation and child and family services providers
    Exercising the rights and responsibilities of FDFN under provincial, territorial and federal child and family services law
    Attend court proceedings involving FDFN clients & families
    Facilitating the repatriation and/or reunification of FDFN children and youth in care with their family and FDFN
    Being an overall family support, which may consist of support letters and being on call to attend court
    Consult with Child Protection Workers and Alternate/Foster Care Workers re: off reserve families
    Work with local services and designated programs (Community Health and Human Services Managers/Prevention Workers/Elders) to identify and develop community-based training needs for FDFN members and support to achieve the prevention goals
    Assist and provide support to the FDFN Prevention Workers in completing reporting requirements
    Assist the Community Wellness Manager with ensuring the Prevention program services are implemented and provided to FDFN families and children
Skills & Abilities:
    Proficiency in AIS Database, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
    Must be willing to work flexible hours
