The MLTC Bioenergy Centre consists of a 6.6 MW power generation system that is fueled primarily by biomass sawmill residuals. The plant supplies power to the SaskPower grid, and provides low-carbon process heating (kilns and building heat).
Reporting to the Lead Operator, the Process Operator performs a combination of functions in both the control room and the field to maintain safe and effective operation of the facility. This role collects information from the field by performing periodic walkthroughs and communicates any operational or safety concerns to the Lead Operator, as well as assists the Utility Operator and maintenance personnel when required. The Process Operator also operates the control panel in the absence of the Lead Operator.
DUTIES
Assist with control panel operation
Identify mechanical problems and troubleshoot to find root causes and relay information to Lead Operator
Identify equipment necessary to de-energize for maintenance lock-out
Assist and provide oversight to maintenance personnel/contractors
Ensure daily fuel samples are collected
Measure and record moisture content and sample weight
Monitor ash and snow removal needs
Perform periodic walkthroughs of site to monitor operations
Perform minor maintenance when required
QUALIFICATIONS
Power engineering certification is not required but will be considered an asset.
Mechanical/Electrical experience will be considered an asset
Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
