Description

Position: Contract

We are seeking a grounded, experienced, and values-aligned Mental Health Counsellor to join our practice. This role requires a deep respect for Indigenous knowledge systems, especially First Nations values and ceremony, and the ability to walk alongside clients with humility, cultural safety, and clinical competence.

Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Registered or eligible for registration with a provincial regulatory body.
- Competence and experience in DSM-based assessment and treatment planning.
- Experience working with clients dealing with trauma, mental illness, and intergenerational impacts of colonization.
- Ability to integrate both clinical frameworks and Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.
- Strong ethical grounding and a collaborative approach to care.
Preferred Attributes:
- Demonstrated connection to First Nations communities, either through personal lived experience or longstanding professional relationships.
- Deep respect for ceremony, land-based practice, and cultural protocol.
- Humble and non-hierarchical in working relationships; values relational accountability.
- Experience in community-based mental health or Indigenous-led health settings is an asset.

What We Offer:
- A supportive, values-driven environment.
- Regular access to ceremony, Elders, and cultural knowledge holders.
- Flexibility in scheduling and caseload.
- Emphasis on practitioner well-being and growth.

To apply, please submit:
1. A resume/CV.
2. A one-page statement describing your approach to healing and how you integrate Indigenous and clinical perspectives.
3. Your professional registration status or proof of eligibility
