Answer the residents call system.
o Assist the residents with activities of daily living as per care plan (toileting, personal care, mobility, nutrition)
o Provide bathing and grooming (hair care, shaves, nail care), dress and undress the residents.
o Provide oral care (brushing natural teeth or dentures).
o Prepare meals, assist residents with food choices, serve and clean up, and assist or feed residents.
o Transfer/lift, repositioning of residents (to and from bed, chair, commode) using various aids and lifts, following assessment.
o Monitor residents exercise routines (walking, breathing, stretching exercise.),
provide entertainment activities (games, crafting, puzzles), assist/accompany the residents to outside recreational activities.
o Take residents vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen level, temperature, pulse),
monitor fluid intake and output, and track bowel movement daily.
o Observe, monitor residents physical and psychological condition, and document information in the residents charts at the end of the shift.
o Collect specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and arrange delivery to the lab.
o Provide medication assistance.
o Perform first aid or CPR in emergency cases within competence.
o Provides bowel and bladder care (suppositories, enemas, catheter) when needed as directed by registered nursing staff.
o Makes/changes bed linens and tidies the room.
o Orders, maintains, and distributes inventory for resident usage (briefs, wet wipes, tissues, soaps)
o Cleans, sanitizes all related equipment (wheelchairs, walker, commode, Sask-a-Pole, bed pan, urinal, urine hat).
o Promote good communication, social and psychological well-being of the residents.
