Description

The Male Youth Mentor will provide intervention and prevention services, counseling, support, advocacy and referrals to Youth identified by the Ministry of Social Services and EHC. As a Male Youth Mentor, you will provide a safe and nurturing structured living environment.  Your role will involve engaging in all aspects, offering both physical and emotional support.  The Male Youth Mentor, will be supervised by the Team Lead and general direction, with overall responsibility to the Executive Director. If you are a very positive role model, we would love for you to join the team!

Education:
Gr 12. Diploma, certificate or degree in Child and Youth Care (CYC) and one on one counseling would be an asset.  At least one year of experience working with children, youth and or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, or development challenges.

Qualifications:
Implement, coordinate, and evaluate youth care with co workers
Plan safety, and health requirements of youth are met
Keep up with documentation and daily reporting pertaining to the youth
Plan and coordinate with transportation to social and recreational events  
Good communication and written skills
Knowledge of behaviour management and support strategies that help resolve conflicts and handle crisis
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends
Demonstrates a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
Provide a Criminal Record Check and a vulnerable sector check
First Aid and CPR certificate
